Tsim Tsa Shui area in Hong Kong
What are good restaurants and shopping in this area? We are staying at Intercontinetal and want to know how to get to this area?
look on hotel site for directions to the hotel
I'm not sure if I understand your question, as the Intercontinental is located at the heart of TST. To get to Hong Kong Island, you can hop on the Star Ferry or take the MTR subway. The MTR, as well as the buses and trams, can take you to almost anywhere you want to go in Hong Kong. Good restaurants and shopping abound - what are you looking for?
There is a huge mall as well as on-street shopping just by the Star Ferry terminal, Kowloon.
i guess I am confused....thought TST was located across the harbor???
Hong Kong Harbor can be seen from two sides, one on the island side and the other is on the Kowloon side. TST is located right on the harbor, on the Kowloon side.
While views from both sides of the harbor are beautiful, the iconic view is from TST.
SInce it sounds like you are going to spend some time in Hong Kong (not just a cruise ship stop), you would probably benefit from a Hong Kong guide book.

As noted the Intercon is in TST. The Star Ferry is about a 5 minute walk in one direction along the harbour, South TST in the other direction. The Peninsula, Nathan Road, the MTR station and the rest of TST is just across the road.
I really like the Intercon (back when it was the Regent)but my biggest gripe is that it's a headache to get across Salisbury Road. Unless you walk down to the Star Ferry street crossing, you either have to go through a complex underpass or climb up an overpass. It's bewildering at first but you get used to it. There are hundreds of restaurants and shops in TST within walking distance of the Intercontinental, both in shopping malls and on the street -- old favorites that have been there for decades and new ones that are constantly popping up. You'll find the concierge at the Intercon helpful with suggestions. |
Sorry, meant East TST, not South.
We will be spending a couple of days there. Have not been there for 25 years. Have never been on the Star Ferry, so want to try. Thanks for advice

Good restaurants near IC for dinner?
It is actually not that bad getting to/from the IC on foot. Just use the walkway adjacent to the driveway and get down to the East TST station. From there you can get to many parts of TST underground, besides accessing both MTR lines. Or just get out from Exit K and you're right behind the Sheraton. This is easier and less confusing than using the other tunnel that goes directly to the Sheraton.
