Trip Suggestions and Travel Agent Recommendations
I am going to be traveling to India for two months (November and December) with my wife and two children (10 & 8). Other than booking my tickets from New York to Delhi, we do not have any set agenda other than to see, learn and enjoy. I was curious about any recommendations of itineraries or travel agents who can work with us.

Better get moving as lodging in India is tight especially in November/December. Please advise budget, likes and dislikes so we can better assist you.

We stayed in a small B&B in Delhi -just 3 or 4 rooms - www.delhibedandbreakfast.com (would definately recommend)and you can move on to all parts of India from here.
The property is in a residential area and the owners are very welcoming & hospitable (Pervez & Lubna). Home cooked meals are available cooked by Lubna - the food was some of the best we had on our entire trip and you eat with the owners and other guests which is another great experience. Lubna also offers cooking classes if you are interested. Pervez organised a driver to pick us up at the airport and another local driver to see the sights of Delhi. He will also arrange tours to other parts of India using local English speaking drivers - look at their web site for more info. We arranged our own driver to see the Taj and Jaipur etc and I would also recommend him - reasonable rates, English speaking, reliable, friendly and knowledgeable. His name is Atma and can be contacted at [email protected]. |
We are looking for nicer but not Oberoi priced hotels. I guess that would be 4 out of 5 star hotels.

nymarkus,
I am afraid there is no easy formula or answers to your questions. However, there is a TREMENDOUS amount of information on this India thread about all things India (hotels, itineraries, guides, pictures). I would think it would be well worth a couple hours of your time to read through some of these - you will be very well informed in the end. Then you may come back with more specific questions. Enjoy the reading. |
India has a lot to offer for all tastes & interests. In 60 days a lot of destinations in both North & South could be covered, without stretching yourself. Of course, a little adventure for youngsters, would not be out of place!
