That was my fear about Angor Wat. We would be going on the 2nd or 3rd of November--my guess was that it will be at the end of the shoulder season, beginning of high season, high season likely to be higher than usual.
But I once did a great job of managing NYC the week after Christmas. What you wrote is really helpful--means I need to trade in our $60 a night hotel if we go for something more luxurious, always a pleasure.

True, but if you really want to go to Angkor Wat then you may have to contend with the crowds. It's not so bad when you expect it going in. We booked through a travel agent at the time so she arranged our travel, lodging, driver, and guide for us but that's before you could book everything on travel sites yourself. I always ask myself if I'll regret going or not going somewhere and the answer is usually the former so I just go for it.

You won't be disappointed with Angkor Wat. It's beautiful. You just may need to wait a while to get a photo without a lot of people in the background. :) I went when there were a lot of mosquitos and I remember getting bitten through my clothes! Bring lots of repellant (not sure if it'll be a problem in November). Enjoy!!

Hi again, Lindy!Just finished reviewing your pix and blog in detail--slowwwlllyyy for the full enjoyment!

I too love weathered doors. Ya gotta go to India some day to admire and photographs some great ones! (-:
I am always interested by differing viewpoints. For example, it sounds like you didnt think Luang Prabang required too much time to enjoy--others say they can hardly leave!

Thanks to your photos, I am now craving Thai food! As the restaurants are now closed (11:00 pmin Calif) I'll have to settle for frozen from the supermarket!

Thanks CaliNurse! Glad you enjoyed my pics and blog.

I've seen some people take amazing pictures of weathered doors - I need to perfect that since I've seen so many great ones. I tend to just use my iPhone camera.

I think after being in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, Luang Prabang was sleepy and small to me. You can definitely spend a lot of time there though since it's relaxing. And we just hit a few spots, didn't really explore everything thoroughly. I blame it on the weather - it was so hot that we came back to the hotel for most of the afternoon!

Ha, we're lucky (I'm in California too) though - we have all kinds of great food here! Hopefully you were able to get some Thai food today. :)
