Trip report: Thailand and Laos - Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Luang Prabang

I'm excited to share my trip report with you! My husband and I visited Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Luang Prabang over a 2 week period. We went when it was incredibly hot but still had a great time seeing the sights, eating street food, getting close to elephants, and seeing ancient ruins.

Please check out my pictures, itinerary, recommendations, and tips:

Thanks for reading! Feel free to post questions.

Love your blog(s) and am so envious that you have family to guide you through the many street food vendors -- the meals look amazing!

I do remember reading about the rioting in Vietnam but not to the extent that you indicated -- our western news doesn't really tell us much, does it? You did a good job of reworking your trip quickly, and it looks like you have a wonderful time, even in the super hot weather.

I'm also enjoying reading about your Tiger Mom - your snippets of conversation would make a great small book!

A few comments about the photos - I don't know if it's just me, but the photos take a long time to load, if at all. On my iPad, they don't load at all, and it's very slow on my tabletop computer. Maybe they should be sized smaller? I love looking at them, so I hope you don't mind my comments.

Hi progol, thanks for your comments and feedback! Glad you enjoy reading about my Tiger Mom. Every new conversation yields me more material. :o)

The photos are probably really big so I should try to compress them - I just didn't know if the quality would look really bad but I'll give it a try. At least it would load! Thanks for letting me know!

Don't mind the comments at all - thank you for taking the time to write them. I really appreciate it!

I don't have time to load all of the pictures, but y0ur blog is great! You are making me want to return to Chiang Mai. Great city.

Warm greetings lindygirl, from a fine morning in our sweet home of Singapore. Writing to thank you for a most enjoyable trip report -- and your absolutely delightful "Tiger Mom" observations. Somehow, someway, vaguely reminds me of an all-powerful "Tiger Mom in Law" (who raised quite the tigress) and an ever-charming "Aunt Agony". Never a dull moment having certain extended family in our city-state for Chinese New Year.

Noticed you flew a night flight from my primary N. America business travel port of SFO. (I am rather partial to Singapore Airlines flight #1 to Hong Kong for those nocturnal work-related departures out of SFO.) Glad all went well for you.

Thanks again lindygirl for your wondrous writing and humour. Should your travels ever take you to our Singapore, honoured to offer lodging, aviation suggestions. Warm Gong Xi Fa Cai wishes to you and all from Singapore,

macintosh (robert)

Thanks Cattail!

Thanks AskOksena! Ha, glad you enjoyed my Tiger Mom posts. I never seem to run out of material. :) Happy Chinese New Year to you too. It's been a while since I've gone to Singapore - maybe I'm due for a visit. Thanks for the offer for recs!
