Kuching is probably the least-known city in South-East Asia. It's also one of the most charming places, not just because of the cats, but because of the indigenous culture, the national parks, and the cuisine. The food is unique.

Kuching is easy by air from KL, and easy to everywhere else in Borneo.

frogoutofwater, I don't know why you are so disturbed about mosquitoes. We spend half our year fishing in these places and don't get malaria or dengue because we take our pills, slap on the insecticide, keep our clothes sprayed and cover up.

If I only have 5 days to 1 week would you recommend just do Kuching and Bako?

I would be there for nature mainly.

Did you do a kayak trip down the river? I read some good reviews

Susie,

Drink loads of water in the morning so your body is ready for the hot days.

I suffer from dehydration a lot in summer and I found drinking lots of water before 11am prevents probs in the arvo.
