Adelphi Suites

How would a serviced apt.l iike Adelphi Suites be for a 1st time visitor to BKK given its location and amenities? if not for entire stay, for last 2 days or so?

It would be fine. Easy access to the skytrain.

I always recommend that first timers stay along the river, the lifeblood of Bangkok. You can ride the water taxis to many major sites and the proximity to the river means it's a little less hot (you aren't getting reflected heat from the canyons of highrises and the air is cleaner as you don't have all of the trapped exhaust fumes. The river traffic is endlessly fascinating. So that's why I'd recommend the river area - one serviced apartment near the river is Centrepoint Silom if you'd really prefer a serviced apartment.

Emporium suites are great too. Very close to a sky train and they are a reasonable price.

Adelphi Suites is absolutely fine for a first-time visit to Bangkok! I've been staying there since it opened. Location is ideal. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is not super fab, but you'll get your fill!

Emporium and probably Chatrium are priced quite a bit higher.

Adelphi prices have remained steady over the years with the exception of holiday travel. I have consistently paid just at or slightly above $100 per night for their "executive apartment" which is th largest they offer. Last December we planned to stay there once sgain, but I went into shock when checking their rates. Unreal! Weopted to stay elsewhere.

When I stayed there in April 2014 and then again in July 2014, the price was typicalof what I've alwats paid. July was actually cheaper thsn April was. It was just under $100 per night for executive one bedroom.

I have once again looked at December rates as we are holidaying in Thaand (Bangkok and Phuket) once again. I absolutely refuse to pay Adelphi price snd have been looking at other options once again.

Yikes!!!!!! So many typos in that post. Ugh......

The OP does not say when the trip will happen, unless I'm missing something. For the bulk of the year, Adelphi would be ideal. It's location beats the river IMO hands down. I know the river gets promoted as being the best place to stay, but the OP had actually singled out the Adelphi and asked if it would be OK. Yes, it would/will be a fine choice.

To the OP, I've stayed my entire trip to Bangkok at the Adelphi too many times to count. I've been going to Bangkok at least 3 to 4 times per year, and Adelphi has been my home away from home since Feb 2009.

the Adelphi location is excellent if you want to be in that part of town, but I still prefer river locations.

Carol, I had checked the Adelphi prices a few times and was shocked at how high they were. I now realize I was looking at dates around the holidays. I didn't realize the price had pretty much stayed in the $90-100 range except for the holidays. Thanks for the additional information.

Zoso, I also love the neighborhood at Adelphi. Staying on the river is nice but there's something about staying on a small soi with everyday life right outside the door.
