We are looking forward to hearing from you.

We were in Thailand this past February and used Image Limousine service to get to our hotel from Laem Chabang and again to reach the airport. The car was clean and the driver very courteous and I would not hesitate to recommend them. The rate to or from the airport is currently 1500 baht and worth every penny. You can check out their website at www.imagelimo.com .
Enjoy your trip.

Okay, I've managed to book Rat for a day to do the railroad market and a floating market. Any ideas for other activities to round out the day? We're not looking to go to a show or anything, and will do Bangkok proper at other times. I want to maximize the time we have someone taking us out and about without trying to do too much. Should we do a long tail boat? Shopping? Other ideas?

A Klong tour in a long-tailed boat is a great way to spend an afternoon. It's cooler on the water. You can book one from the pier at Taksin Tha, where the Marriott boat lets you off. Don't bother with the snake farm, too touristy.

you might want to visit the porclean factory not far from the floating market and she will take you to the handicraft store as well i am sure....that will make a decent day of it...

OK, well sort of good news on the Marriott Riverside. I was right and I was wrong in my initial info. The Marriot flag is going to come down, but not until November 2011. Heinecke and Marriott are signing an agreement on November 1, 2010 to take the Marriott flag off effective 1 year later. So for the OP’s trip she will be OK. But people planning a trip after November 2011 may want to bear the above in mind.

i will be there starting friday and i will investigate...last year they purchased the property next door, and it was my understanding that they were to build another hotel there (anantara), just as they have done next to the JW Marriott in Phuket... but nothing would surprise me....the way they have increased the tariff in the last couple of years seemed to be heading then in some other direction...

Yes, we called and they assured us we would be fine, but thanks for the heads up!
