Travelling to Turkey
Hi,
We are traveling to Turkey in early October. For visiting Cappadocia and Pamukkale, we have decided the following intinerary Day 1 - Reach Denizli from Istanbul - stay the night Day 2 - Tour Pamukkale Day 3 - Take a bus from Denizli to Cappadocia via Konya. Reach Goreme at night and stay the night at a cave hotel. Day 4 - Tour Cappadocia area Day 5 - Tour Cappadoccia during the day and take a night flight back to Istanbul from Nevshehir. Q. Is that do-able? Q. We are a couple with a 3 year old child. Is the bus travel good from Denizli to Cappadocia via Konya. Q. How easily are bus seats available? Should I book in advance online? Q. Should we stay in Nevshehir or Goreme? Which is better? |
Q. What continent is Turkey on?
|
There is no need to ask such a question. This is a first time poster and hopefully this won't be his/her only post after that comment.

Turkey straddles Europe and Asia, but is listed here on Fodors as "Europe." It would have made more sense to me to list it as "Africa and the Middle East." But in any case, I'll ask the moderators to move it to the Europe board with the other Turkey posts.
BTW, I didn't think Hanuman's post was being nasty, I thought he was asking where Fodors lists Turkey. I had to go and check and was surprised they list it under Europe, since only a very small part of Turkey is in Europe. |
Sorry Kathie but I disagee. He could have replied like you did instead of that way, like the OP is geographically challenged.
|
Hey dude I don't even know where all the towns mentioned by the OP are! Don't worry jacket my post will probably be deleted and the thread move to Europe where they are very polite like them cruise people.
|
Thanks for proving my point. Dude.
|
Hmm... perhaps you should just answer the OP's questions?
|
I would if I could but I would not get snarky if I couldn't.
|
Isn't it after cocktail hour down under about now?
|
i think it is doable... i rented a car and travelled to those area for max. flexibility..
|
As Jimmy Buffet says "its 5 O'clock somewhere." Or something like that. In Chi its 0945. Cheers. :-)

I think he missed the boat so now he's snarking at everyone.
|
:D. I never miss a boat. Besides that the Equinox doesn't dock in Chicago. :S- G'day.

Sometimes others don't know or realize that not everyone's first language on this board is English but are multilingual. Some here think in their native language first and type in English sometimes sounding harsh or "different" to us in the US.
Snarky is an American slang word meaning Critical; cutting; testy. |
Thanks for the explanation HT. Google translate didn't have a Thai word for snarky or snarking and I thought it was a reference to dog barking or something like that.

Hi chumkis , I'm going to Turkey in October as well. Good choice. If you post this question in the Europe forum, you will get lots of direction and advice. Also, there are tons of posts there already that may answer many of your questions.
BTW, your posting your question as a first time poster to this forum makes complete sense as, geographically, far more of Turkey is considered Asia/Asia Minor rather than European. However, the folks at Fodors make their own geography decisions. The Turkish government for the most part also identifies as "Europe" as they wanted to join the EU. However, with the EU mess, I think they are probably now going to call themselves Asians, so, maybe in the near future, Turkey will be moved to the Asia board. ;) In the meantime, you will find tons of great information, as I have, here: http://www.fodors.com/community/europe/turkey/ |
Bostonharbor,
Thanks for your response. I will re-tag the post |
