Travelers Checks or ATM?

Planning a trip to Thailand and I am wondering should I be getting travelers checks, using my ATM, or my credit card?

do not go with just one atm card...preferable to have two or more and from different banks if possible...credit cards are widely acceptable all over thailand...advances are expensive however....good for purchases from established shops, etc but not at most markets and most hotels too....

not a bad idea to have a few trav cks if you do not feel comfortable without them....i do not take them anymore to thailand however....

best not to take wads of cash---room security even in big hotels...

Are Atms readily avaiable? And why 2 or more cards. I am new to this so I have lots of questions. Thanks for all your help.

ATMs are widely available in Thailand. If you are headed for small towns off the tourist track, make sure you have enough money before you go. Some people like to have more than one ATM card in case one stops working (damaged magnetic strip) or in case one gets eaten by a macine. I've never had either happen, but Bob had a card eaten once.
