Travel to India in May?
 

My husband and I have been wanting to visit India for a while and it seems that it is only possible for us to do it in 20-30 May. But we found out that May is the hottest month of the year in India. Our visit will include the Golden Triangle. We are from Turkey so we are wondering if it would be unbearable to travet there in May. We probably won't have any chance in the future to go to India. So it is a "now or never" situation for us. We really need advice to make a decision. Thanks in advance.

Let's put it this way. It was 114 at 7PM yesterday in Delhi which is part of the Golden Triangle. If you can handle temps like that then fine but I think touring about in that heat would be terrible.

Is there another part to consider? Maybe Goa or Kerala.

I checked Goa and its hi 90's, low 100's. Kerala now is rainy

Actually we do not have a certain route. But we want to see as much as we can since we will not have such an opportunity in the future. That's why we wish to include the golden triangle to our trip. Still, I guess we are open to suggestions on the places to travel in May. We definitely consider Goa. Other than that we could not decide where to travel as there are so many places to see and we don't have enough information to choose among them.

Northern India in May is rough. My wife is from India and I want suggested going there in May as this was the only time that we had

I mean the only time we had at that and my Indian friends and of course my wife said that would be just too difficult.

It's too bad you can't go in late November or in December as the temperatures then would be quite good .

What other places have you considered and maybe you should look into going there instead

We have been wanting to go to India for a long time. Now all of a sudden we had this opportunity to travel and we immediately come up with the idea to go there, unaware of the weather conditions obviously :( So we did not think of any other place. Now we are desparately trying to find a way to make the best of this chance to travel. We have an approximate budget of 2000$. We can buy plane tickets for very small amounts, about 1/4 of average prices, since my husband is working at an airport. So, as a traveller, do you have any suggestions on any other places within our budget? They would be much appreciated :)

Hanoi comes to mind and its budget friendly as is Malaysia though you have to check weather averages first.

Months of May & June are the hottest months to travel to the Golden triangle, as very rightly pointed out by above posters.The heat is palpable and you can smell it the moment you exit the int'l airport. Whatever you wish to eat will have to be done in the hotels of your stay (or some reputable restaurants only), for eating elsewhere could be very risky, especially meats. Moreover, there is a great danger of your falling sick on account of walking outdoors in hot midday sun for sightseeing. Travelling from A to B drains your energy levels.
The only places which you can travel to in India, at this time, are perhaps the Himalayas. There may be some destinations which can be done. It could be Simla-Sangla-Tabo-Kaza and upto the glaciers of Chotta Dara, provided the pass at Chota Dara is open, normally does in June. If not, you will need to come back the same way. The scenery is fabulous and you will get to visit the ancient monasteries of Kee & Kibber. But these are tough, uncertain routes.
The other options could be Srinagar, Leh & Ladakh, Darjeeling and may be Sikkim. But the mountain views could be obscured by the rising mists.
IMO, one should wait for an opportunity to visit India in favourable weather conditions.

We decided to cancel our trip to India for now. Instead we are going to Indonesia. We heard that the wheather is quite nice there in May and the country has many amazing places worth seeing.
