Travel to India in February

I am in the very early stages of planning a month long trip to India - looking at February 2016.

I will likely start out in Delhi and go to Jaipur, Ranthambore, Agra, Kolkata ... and then to the Ganges River Valley.

My main question right now is regarding climate. Is the month of February a good time to visit these places? What kind of weather should I expect?

Is there a more favorable time of year for these areas?

I am sure as time passes, I will have a ton of questions, but for right now I am just wanting to set my dates.

Put your destination cities into the line at the top of this page to get monthly highs/lows/precipitation. India is a big place and different regions get different weather:

Also, keep in mind, rain can be downpours lasting minutes with the rest of the day, or most of it, perfectly nice. So investigate further before letting rain on a chart deter you. It can be nice even when there's rain. Have tea under cover until it passes.

Weather should be excellent in February. Not too hot (high 60's), not too cold (50's at night) and no rain, except for one day in Varanasi. We have visited India twice during this month - all in the north (consistent with your itinerary) and beautiful weather for the most part. Bring sunscreen.

February is fine weather in these destinations, neither cold nor unpleasantly warm. You could expect a few mild showers in February but that is quite welcome as that cools down rising temperatures.
Your target destinations do not include a rural Rajasthan experience. Do add a destination or two of this as well. There are some beautiful, very indische Fort-palaces in Rural Rajasthan.
Ranthambhore will also be calm and wildlife sightings better. It is the time when the sap is again active in the trees engendering infectious mood in the herbivores, after a dormant wintry January. The loads of native crowds have thinned out as the schools and colleges will have reopened.
I guess it should be around 24c/15c in the month of Feb.
Happy travels!

Feb. should be nice as the others have said. You will be in two large cities, Delhi and Kolkata. Just a thought but what about substituting say Goa or Kerala for Kolkata?

Cheers, Larry.

February is the good time to visit to these places. Days are pleasant (around 20 Degrees) but nights are bit cold (around 12-14 degrees).

The weather in February is pretty good. Its neither too cold and neither too warm. Its actually a good time to visit India. In the big cities it might get cooler during evening. But most of the times it will be quite a pleasant weather throughout the month of February.

Early Feb has been a bit cold in the last two years. But late feb and early march should be the best times to visit these places.

And if you have not finalized on the destinations, I would strongly recommend dropping Kolkata (not at all worth it, especially given the travel time). There hundreds of better places to visit in India.
