Travel time to BKK from downtown
I need to be at the Bangkok airport by 9:30 am for checkin.
Is 2.5 hours by private driver from a riverside hotel in downtown enough time during morning rush hour?
Thank you

It's often faster from riverside than from "downtown." It has never taken me as much as 45 minutes from the ROS, and often takes under 30 at a non-rush hour time. Planning on 2.5 hours is way overkill, IMO. Which hotel are you staying at? If I was worried about it, I might allow an hour and a half. How much time are you allowing yourself at the airport?

I am allowing 2 hours before my flight on Vietnam air to Hanoi
I was worried about traffic as it is very important I make this flight.
Thanks for the info-rather be early than late.

Every journey by road in Bangkok is different. No one knows whether roads may be closed and therefore routes extended (for all manner of reasons).
I'd rather be bored and in the Deaparture Lounge, rather than stressed clock watching while stuck in traffic. Allow too long rather than too little.
