travel in Japan
Here is my itinerary
September 10th Arr. Kyoto at 22:00
September 11th - 12th Kyoto
September 13th Kyoto to Hiroshima
September 14th Hiroshima to Nagoya
September 15th-18th Nagoya
September 19th Nagoya to Tokyo
September 20th-21st Tokyo
September 22nd Dep. Tokyo
Plan to buy a 7 day JR Pass which we will validate on September 13th when we leave for Hiroshima and so will end on the 19th when we reach Tokyo.
In Kyoto we could buy the 2 day bus/train pass or just the bus pass (suggestions please). And in Tokyo the Suica pass ?
Your views please.

The type of transport pass you opt for in Kyoto depends on your itinerary and your hotel's location. If you plan to see a lot of sights in and around the city then the Kyoto sightseeing card might be for you. If you plan to restrict yourself to the center of the city, then the 500 yen one day city bus card may be for you. Have you seen this page yet?

A Suica card is nice in Tokyo for the subways and other transport as you don't have to purchase tickets every time you ride a train. See here for details on how to purchase and the use of one:

Hi
My wife and I went to Japan a few years back and we had a great time. Here is a Japan trip report that I made http://gardkarlsen.com/japan_tokyo.htm and as you will see we also did Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima etc. I hope that you can find some useful info there to start with. Get in touch if you have any questions

Thanks. We are in Nagoya for so many days as one of us (party of 5) is attending a conference in Nagoya and 2 of us will be going to Osaka for a business meeting. In Kyoto we are staying at the Hearton Hotel close to the Karasuma-Oike Subway station.
