it seems unlikely that countries like USA or UK will be included yet...... China and Australia are likely to be favoured along with Si galore, New Zealand and south Kirea.

It really doesnt look like much will happen before August.

it looks like the first people allowed back are going g to be business people, those with work permits and students and teachers. It also seems new teachers without work permits in place will not be allowed. So all recruitment in education a d other areas will have to be with people already in the country.
The Thai aviation authority said flights wont be back until September. Presumably when tourists are allowed in in bubbles.

None of this bodes well for anyone from the UK or USA as the bubbles are for countries deemed as low risk by Thailand.

This was released by the Thai foreign office.
"The Ministry of Public Health is preparing related information before the plan is submitted to the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), chaired by Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha, for consideration on 29 June 2020.

Apart from Thai nationals, travelers to be allowed to enter Thailand include members of diplomatic corps and international organizations and foreigners who intend to visit Thailand for economic and social reasons.

The relaxation of travel restrictions for foreigners who visit Thailand for economic and social reasons will be divided into three phases.

The first phase involves short- and long-term arrivals, such as guests of the Thai government, businessmen, investors, skilled workers, experts, people with Thai families, teachers, and students.

The second phase involves patients seeking Thai health services, and the third phase involves tourists and migrant workers.

In the plan on the monitoring system to prevent and control COVID-19 infection, the foreigners have to follow the regulations and measures of the Department of Diseases Control, such as the presentation of a fit-to-fly health certificate and insurance that covers COVID-19 medical examination and treatment. They will also be required to accept 14-day quarantine, if necessary, while in Thailand."

It looks like countries handling Covid badly or in a way Thailand doesn't regard a safe will have to wait.
Again that looks like USAand UK will have to wait, unless individual states can make exceptions???

although the site said "businessmen" when translated to English, I doubt if even Thailand will be discriminating by gender on this issue.
the original Thai does not actually specify gender and would do so only by specifying "woman" after, otherwise it would be non-gendered.

Still....someone in the Foreign Office must review the translation before disseminating. Easy enough to substitute something else.

I think you don't really have an insight as to how these things pan out in Thailand. the is virtually no chance anyone will check/edit/copywrite anything that is realised to more than a cursory extent. This may even be a ran station my a media outlet or private law firm.
As the language itself doesn't discriminate overtly it is quite likely that any gender bias would be [icked up on...exsecially as Thailand has little or no legislation to address discrimination odf any kind.

The CCSA has now extended the state of emergency until the 31 July.
So ruling by decree.
Changwats ( Provinces) will still have some control over their own lockdown and who comes in ot out.

Pubs bars karaoke can reopen but must close at midnight.

No decision yet on who will be allowed on incoming flights and their restrictions. Coming soon!

5 islands to be opened
 

A month earlier than expected, 5 islands will be opened for tourist in August if the locals agree.
Phuket, Koh Phi-phi, Koh Samui, Koh Pha Ngan and Koh Tao.
Tourists will not be allowed off the islands or to stop over in places like Bkk.

As UK has decided to quarantine all visitors from Thailand, I doubt if Thailand will be opening up to UK visitors any day in the near future.

So now the travel bubble scheme has collapsed till further notice as infections have occurred Ibn the countries targeted.

they now say they will concentrate on the domestic tourism market....that sure has hell ain't gonna replace 20 million Chinese!

It would seem that Thailand has set itself impossible goals of "no Covid" rather than attempting to learn how to cope with it.

Like the previous post hints at, this Coronavirus problem may be something to deal with each year. Kind of like the common flu that kills well over a hundred thousand people each year. With the flu life goes on with acceptable risk. My opinion, we may have to take more risks with opening businesses up and people going to work again.

There is no guarantee a vaccine will end Covid. Even how much it will reduce the spread is not a given....
The precautions against Covid could remain in place in some form indeterminately
The effect on Thailand's economy may already have been devastating.
Future visitors should be prepared to face a new layer of bureaucratic requirements ...... medical certificates, medical insurance and even restrictions of movement.
The governments draconian powers may have helped control the spread of the virus but now they have to co sider the economic ramifications.

It looks like foreigners within the country may get a further extension of there visa amnesty. Maybe they will review their restrictive visa policies after this too?
