Travel Arrangements
Just wondering if anyone has any input as whether or not we should book our flights and hotels via a travel agent or not. We are starting in BKK and going to Angkor Wat (and possibly Phnom Penh), golden triangle, and Luang Prabang). We're pretty independent but we are travelling in December-January, so it may make sense to book something in advanced. Any thoughts?

Above reply was cut off, here's the rest.
In my opinion, book it in advance. Some flights do not leave on a daily basis, such as Chaing Mai to Luang Prabang, and Siem Reap to BKK. I used [email protected] (located at the Ambassador Hotel in Sukumvit area) to prebook our airtravel. I booked most of the hotels on our own. We will be in Siem Reap 12/23 12/24 but only have two nights there because we had difficulty getting departure flight out at a later date. Part of the trip Chiang mai - Luang Prabang – Siem Reap – Bangkok, for this ticket, VSP got us discovery airpass at about 240 usd plus tax. |
Correction for e-mail address
[email protected] The contact person: Mol The discovery pass was $240 per person |
Thanks for the info. Have you used VSP travel before? I was trying to find their website but I couldn't....

Re: VSP Travel
It was recommended to me by a friend who lived in Bangkok. I used VSP Travel last year to book Chaing Mai airflight and day trips. This year I used VSP Travel to book airflights from BKK to Chaing Rai, Chaing Mai to Laos Luang Prabang, Luang Prabang to Siem Reap, Siem Reap to BKK to Vietnam Hanoi, Hanoi to Hue, Hue to Danang and Danang to Saigon and back to BKK. After they booked my flights, I faxed VSP my credit card number. They really dont have a website that I could find. So, I used VSP twice. There are other travel agents that people on the board have recommended and you could do a search on this board for travel agent. |
anyone have a fu nctioning email address for VSPT travel in BKK. The one posted has co me back to me a few times as "non-deliverable" and t"those who know" recommend this travel agent. Or, anyothers to book airlines res?> thanks

You can also book directly with teh airrlines. Bangkok Air has a good website, and I've booked directly with them a number of times. If you want the Discovery Pass, you'll need to call their toll-free number for your country, which is listed on their website.

oops - I didn't finish that message
For hotels, I use www.asiahotels.com but there are many other hotel booking sites as well. I never use travel agents. |

I would never recommend booking with Bangkok Air directly. I have spent a great deal of time this last week trying to find out why my tickets from them had not arrived and have gotten a lot of background music and major run-arounds. All of my emails were ignored. The tickets finally arrived this afternoon (Thursday)with incorrect information on them--we leave for Bangkok on Monday. Needless-to-say, I am stressed out!
