Can anyone recommend a good travel agent in India for a route that includes( Bombay-Kerala- Chennai)? The guy that I used the last time is way too expensive this time .....

We are taking our another trip to kerala with castle and king and he is working for our travel plan. We used castle and king services in Rajasthan in March 2005.

Thanks

Have you tried this - www.travelvirus.com . Very competitive rates - travelled early this year to Kerala

I have used Wanderlust Travels in tours North and South www.wanderlustindia.com They have good contacts.

I did that and a lot more myself by simply buying a rail pass. Iit is easy to travel everywhere by train and either walk or get a rickshaw or taxi from your arrival station. 1st class is (or at least was) 3x second class, and worth every rupee. You just need a good guide book, like Lonely Planet.

I agree with kaneda - no problem to do this yourself. Use India's wonderful rail system. What do you want the travel agent to do?

I used India Invites (www.indiainvites.com). Prashant Maurya was my contact. FYI: They don't take credit cards. We were so pleased with our trip. I told him what we wanted to do and he set it all up. We had guides and drivers, which was very personal. Our contacts in each city even made sure we were securely on the train when we travelled that way. Prashant called me the evening we flew in (which was very late at night). We felt very well looked after and cared for.

I just got back from 1 mo in South India. I can highly recommend Fourens Travel - it is a family run business and Jenny and Jose were excellent in assisting us. We become friends. We also stayed in their guest house in Cochin called Le Royale. Their website is www.cochinkerala.com Have a great trip.

A little more info: Jenny of Fouren Travel also arranged a car and driver (Sajeev)for us -- we were very happy with Sajeev and travelled with him for 25 days. Jenny's rates are very reasonable. We were in a Toyoto Qualis - very comfortable. We travelled from Chennai to Kerala to Mysore Hampi and Goa.
