Transportation from Cha Am to BKK

We're staying at the Golden Sands hotel in Cha Am and will be flying from BKK to Chiang Mai on a Monday morning. What's the best way to get from Cha Am to the BKK airport and how long will it take? Need to know in order to make flight reservations. Also, is there any local transportation in Cha Am and any comments on the Golden Sands??

Your hotel can arrange a car and driver for you. It takes about three hours to drive from Cha Am to BKK.

Traffic on Monday morning is normally quite congested. I would give myself around 4 hours.

Cha Am to Bangkok(Thonburi) 3 hours + 1 more hour from Thonburi to the airport.

You would be better off leaving about 10 or 11 am nd avoiding the rush time in Bangkok. 3hrs should suffice. The taxi rate is 1,500 to 1,800 to the airport. Speak to the taxi drivers who park outside the gate of the hotel and they will take care of you.

we spent a week in hua hin in november...we took a private car from bkk to hua hin at 2:30 PM on a thursday and it took 2 hrs and 40 min and he flew....cost $65.---arranged through the airport limo service working out of the airport...on our return we used a sharred van that the marriott arranged for us...it was ok but was sharred and cost 590 B each ($14 each)..it took 3 1/2 hours and stopped to pick up a couple in cha am....
there is also hourly bus service....

i would take the private car if you can afford it....you will be able to find someone locally once you are there and probably cheaper.... look in the busy areas for a jeep or some other hire car and ask how much to take you
