Staying at Kata Beach. Hotel charges $50 USD for transfer. That seems like quite a bit. Are there alternatives?

Take a taxi from the airport, much cheaper. No need to change your hotel reservations to get a cheaper transfer.

go out the front door of the airport, turn right and walk across the small driveway to a small building with a taxi sign on top of it and get a taxi there... much cheaper than $50

Any idea on cost of taxi? Do they use meters or do you establish the price before leaving the airport?
