Transfer Ko Samui to Koh Tao
 

Hi

We are a family of 4 arriving at Ko Samui airport on August 10, 2016 at 15:50.

We have booked resort at Koh Tao starting that day.

Having in mind last ferry to Koh Tao is leaving at 16.30, we are looking for the most affordable private transfer to Koh Tao on that day.

Any help is wellcome

Sorry do not know the rice but a private transfer will no doubt be very very expensive , and I mean 'very' expensive indeed ( and even more expensive ! )

If it was not for the fact that you have already booked I would have suggested simply overnighting on Koh Samui and travel next day ,even if you loose the cost of that night's accommodation would certainly be cheaper than a charter , I think that is how in the end you will need to do it

Can you change your booking on Koh Tao to the next day ?

I guess you are arriving if 1550 on Bangkok Airways from Bangkok ?

I would suggest change flight to an earlier flight ? - unless of course you are connecting through BKK from another flight

There is the option of Nokair via Chumphon Airport that includes ferry to Koh Tao but that departs Bangkok Don Muang Airport at 0920 ( but it's cheap )

I watched that programme. It was indeed chilling. After the initial reports of the murders, I felt it unlikely I would return. Watching this programme reinforced that opinion. I am sure not all Thai police are corrupt but seems most of them are, at incompetent.
Could not believe how KT had grown from a sleepy island with a few shack 15 or so years ago to the busy party place it is today (alledgedly run by a mafia family). The main message seemed to be; if you get into trouble of any sort in Thailand, don't expect any help from the police.

I'm reliably told that the "families" originally on KT were "squatters" who have been given consent to use the land by the crown. They don't actually own it but are able to sub-let it etc etc.....
as for "corruption" - I think even expats who have lived for 10 or 20 years often fail to recognise the universal penetration of it through all of Thai society. from paying 200 baht to a police officer to getting huge swathes of property on samui and Phuket into the hands of family and friends.

An inevitable result of corruption - in particular graft and nepotism - is that people get into jobs that they are quite simply unable to do....unsuited and untrained, when confronted with a particularly tricky situation that requires the ultimate professionalism - it is just not there.

thE result of this is that is visitors to islands like this (with 6 police officers in residence) get into any kind of trouble their is in effect no-one to turn to.....those in office have often got there through their contacts and will be guided by their "loyalties" rather than any sense of duty or professional ability.
