I would write a nice but firm letter to the Hanoi hotel, stating that you are a highly rated poster on Trip Advisor, and several other forums (go ahead and name a bunch). Do not threaten them directly, but state that you want a full refund, otherwise you will feel compelled to post your story. I'm betting that they will back down.
BTW, I would not accept a voucher under any circumstances. The popular Hanoi hotel where I stayed was out of business a year later. You just never know. |
Looks like the hotel relented and is giving us a full refund. We have been refunded for every hotel, the ANA flight and so far, are eligible to be refunded for one flight on Vietnam Airways. Don't know about the other flight on that airline. Have heard nothing back from Vietjet and Thai Air cancelled our flight but nothing about a refund. Calling them gets me nowhere, the only options are for award flights and lost baggage. There is no other option when calling. I messaged them on Facebook. Vietnam Airways messaged me back immediately and told me how to get my refund and request a refund for the other. No such luck yet with Thai.

That's great that the hotel refunded you in full. Regarding the Asian airlines, you will get a refund eventually. Everyone is overwhelmed right now. However, I would send an email stating your case so that you have a record. If you cannot find an email, then try Facebook chat. You also have credit card protection, so I would start a dispute now, just to protect yourself. There is a time limit on credit card disputes.
Keep us posted. I look forward to your trip report whenever you are able to go. |
Thanks, I’ll do that.
