Train stop at Taitung

Does anyone know if there are one or two train stations in Taitung? I read somewhere that you have to take a bus from the train station to the town area if you take the 'mountain route' but for trains going the ocean route, they stop right at the city centre at Zhong Zhen Road. It is quite confusing. Please can anyone help?

Thanks

You'll probably get a quicker response on TripAdvisor.com. It has a great deal of information about Taiwan.

My Lonely Planet Taiwan says the "old" station in town is defunct, and you have to use the "new" station out of town for trains, but that taxis and buses use the old station as a drop off point. Taxi to the new station should cost around NT200 - but my edition is from 2004, imagine the price has gone up.
