Tours to Japan-- First Time Travelers to Japan

Hi,

We want to go to Japan for our honeymoon. I am thinking about doing a tour. Does anyone have a tour they've done that they'd recommend? We have 7-9 days and a budget between $4000 - $5000.

Thanks!

You can see my posts about www.imaginative-traveller.com and our tour to Japan which I highly recommend. It was 2 weeks though. And it was authentic but not exactly romantic style of travel. I would think for a honeymoon you might more want a custom itinerary and private arrangements. www.concierge.com is the website for Conde Nast Traveler and Brides magazine articles on travel. Every year CNT publishes a "best of" travel agents in different categories such as by destination. You might start there. Now that we have done it I would say it is not that hard to travel on your own there, you might plan 3 days in each of Tokyo and Kyoto and some smaller place in between where you can enjoy a traditional ryokan. Enjoy planning your trip!

Hi

I can't comment on the tour thing. My wife and I went to Japan in May and we did a two week trip on our own and we went to Tokyo, Nagoya (Wolrd Expo), Kyoto, Hiroshima, Osaka etc. I have posted a trip report on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com. Maybe you can find some useful information there :-)

Hi! I was in Japan for nine nights for my honeymoon in April. We didn't do a tour, though. We kept it simple and just went to Kyoto and Tokyo, as we didn't want to rush. We spent $5000 tops, and that included two nights at the Park Hyatt in Tokyo. Getting around was not difficult, and you can do things at your own pace. Having to get up early to join a group of strangers is not my idea of a good honeymoon! Don't think that just because it's Japan it will be difficult. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, and in the major cities at least signs will have English translations.
