Tours for a Younger Group
I was wanting to see if anyone had any information about tours for a younger group in China (such as 18-35) that is somewhat active. I wanted to go to Beijing, Guilin, and Shanghai. Any information would be great. Thanks, Susan

Not sure if they go to China, but there is an ECO-Tour company called Snow Lion Adventures that runs trips to many parts of Asia. The people are really nice and I believe they tend to cater to a younger crowd.

We were set to go with them to Tibet last year until we found out that my wife would be bring a third person along.

Their main office is in Salt Lake City. They do have a website, as well. Good luck.

Check out Intrepid which is headquartered in Ozzieland, but they do have an office in California. Their groups are generally small (limited to 10), they don't normally go around in air-conditioned buses but rely on local transport, and it's great for ex-backpackers who don't want to deal anymore with accomodation and logistical problems. They have an EXCELLENT website and you can download any of their itineraries.

Because the price was SOOOOOOO reasonable, we had a good mix of people on our General Tours trip in January. For 8 days we paid $750 - air, hotel, tours, half the meals. I'm sure the price has gone up some, but it's still an incredible bargain for double the price. They use very nice hotels and good places to eat. The hutong tour via rickshaw was a great experience. We NEVER do tours, but I was concerned about the language barrier. I was wise to be concerned. In most places --except for the silk market--
we would have had difficulty. When we went out on our own (this was about 50% guided, a good mix for us) we just learned to be flexible. If it wasn't what you expected to be served at the restaurant...just deal with it. It was always great. We didn't go to Xian, we went with the bargain, and I wish we would have added it on. We took our 9 & 10 year olds. They loved it. It's an active trip. Lots of walking when you see the sites.
