Tourist visa for India?
As a US citizen, who do I apply through (in the US) for a tourist visa to India? Is vfsglobal a legit site? Thank you.

I would have thought it obvious that the place to find out about visas was the Embassy website.
See: https://www.indianembassyusa.gov.in/pages/NzU, and https://www.indianembassyusa.gov.in/extra?id=89 You will learn there that the Indian Embassy has outsourced all visa processing to VFS Global. I have no idea whether you will get good service from VFS Global, but you don't have a choice. |
Thank you for the helpful reply. I haven't been to India in ages and the authorized companies for issuing visas has changed over the years. Just didn't want to send all my info and find out I've been scammed.

There is also an E-Visa program so it seems there is a choice. Nationals of many countries are eligible, click on the top link on the left of the page to see if it applies to you.
https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html ETA: I see you are a US citizen so, yes, you can use the E-Visa according to this information. |
Vsfglobal had a "camp" today in Boston (Medford) where they come and do a variety of visa and other counselor services in person. It worked out that I could go there and have them review and submit my application directly to them. Found out afterwards that the E-Visa would have been much easier. Thanks all for your comments. :)
