Tour Guide
 

Can anyone recommend us a tour guide besides Tong as I have been trying to contact her via email (4 times) and have not hear from her. Our travels to Thailand is for around 9 days in February 2010. I have read many of your travel experiences but everyone seemed to have used Tong. Would appreciate any help given. Thanks.

Tong is a guide in Bangkok. She doesn't go around Thailand with people. There are lots of guide recommendations on this board, not just Tong.

But what is it you are looking for? Are you really looking for someone to drive you around Thailand for 9 days? Or, do you want a guide for a day in Bangkok and a driver for a day in Chiang Mai? Frankly, there is absolutely no need to have someone "hold your hand" like that. Indeed, you can travel all over Thailand entirely on your own. And you are better off flying between destinations within Thailand.

So exactly where are you going and what do you want to do? Where do you feel you need a guide? Or is a driver rather than a guide you need?

Thanks Kathie for responding. After reading the forums, I went into Tong's website and looked at the tours that were available, decided on the places we want to go and sent an email. I just want someone to take us around Bangkok to the places we want to visit namely Floating Markets, Elephant Bath, Tiger Temple, River Kwai,Grand Palace. My sister used Tong's service 2 years ago and suggested I do the same as Tong was just great. I thought a guide and a driver would be one of the same. As for Chang Mai, I have looked at several tours on offer so my main interest is finding someone to take/drive us around in Bangkok. I would appreciate any suggestions you can offer. Cheers.

Get Rat -- she trained Tong and we have used her on all of our trips. She is a driver and does know about the sights.

We used Tan in BBK as did my daughter and her husband and another friend when they were in BBK. Refer to my SEAsia trip report dated Jan/Feb 2008 for a way to contact her.
