tough finding agra hotel

Can't locate a nice hotel in Agra. Does anyone have any hotel names? Is it possible to drive to Agra from Delhi spend the day there and drive that night to Jaipur? We arrive in Delhi Jan 22.

The most comprehensive list of hotels that I've seen is on tripadvisor.com. There are not many in the "luxury" catagory though. I wouldn't recommend driving at night to Jaipur. In addition to it being dangerous, you will miss out on some amazing scenery. Given your tight schedule, you might consider either a day tour to Agra or going on your own by train to Agra for the day. You could also look into trains to Jaipur from Agra. Unfortunately, the Taj is best seen early in the morning or late in the day when it is less crowded with tourists.

Try the Taj View or the Sheraton.

I always reco 2 viewings of the Taj, one during the day and the 2nd early morning as soon as it opens. Craig is right re crowds - that's one reason why early AM is a good time. The bigger reason IMO is that the marble of the Taj looks different at different times of day and I suggest experiencing that twice. The Jaypee Hotel in Agra is supposed to be good. Is also a Clarks property there I think as well as the Taj and Mughal Sheraton which have already been mentioned. I'd say get into Agra day 1, see the Taj once, overnight, see the Taj at sunrise then post b'fast depart for Jaipur stopping to see fatehpur Sikri en route.

Just replied to your other post. The luxury hotel in Agra is Oberoi Amar Vilas - as u want top end try getting this tho as I mentioned you are late and this hotel books out fast. Still, give it a shot - if you can splurge nothing beats staying here.
