Top 2 things to do/see in BKK
If you had to choose only 2 things to see/do in BKK what would they be?
I'm looking for the top attractions from a number of people and then I'm going to try and fill 5 days seeing all of them. By attractions, i mean, sights, shopping, restaraunts, museums, sporting events etc.. My dates are the 2nd sept - 7th sept. any imput what so ever is appreciated. Thanks, Oisin |
1. Klong tour with a stop the flower market, barges and, most important, Wat Arun
2. Dinner at Lord Jim or the Riverside Buffet or China House at the Oriental Hotel. People watch in the lobby before dinner and follow dinner with a drink outside on the river (if you didn't eat there)and then jazz in the Bamboo Bar. |
2 things to see or do in BKK:
I would have said a klong tour also but it's already been suggested. 1. stay in a hotel on the river 2. walk around and get lost, soak up the atmosphere, people, smells, sights. Pick a neighborhood to do this in, perhaps Chinatown. |
chances are you might have lots of rain at that time of year so that may make some changes to the suggestions but:
the #1 thing in bkk is the grand palace the #2 thing is the comparitively cheap restaurants: biscotti at 4 seasons dim sum lunch at lui rest. at the conrad hotel le delat indochine face restaurant bed supper club tongue thai l'opera sunday brunch at rang mahal at rembrandt hotel crepes and co thalipta (sp) rest. at peninsula jesters at peninsula harmonique view from sky bar, state bldg, silom rd ok i have to cheat...i have to give you more things: klong tour of thornburi--2 hours or more jim thompson house prasart museum shopping...especially custom made jewelry and clothing jim thompson main store on suriwong rd nite market on wireless wat arun wat pho marble wat v-mark palace suan packard palace bkk zoo |

My husband is a history buff and really enjoyed the "Bridge on the River Kwai"/Thai Burma Railway tour. I think it also included an elephant ride.
I enjoyed the overcrowded and unbelievably hot weekend market. |
