Tokyo-public bathrooms

Hi, what, if any is the access to public bathrooms in Tokyo?
do you have to pay? Thank you for any information.

All major and most mid size transit stations have public restrooms as do many of the main tourist attractions. Department stores are also good places to find them and in Japan restroom signage is easy to spot. You should carry your own hand tissues as they are not provided and these can be bought at many small kiosks and 7-11, Lawson’s, etc.

Tokyo, compared to some other major cities like NYC or San Francisco has a good amount of facilities and is a place I don’t worry about.
