Hi everyone just a question if i was to go into a japanese bar club etc in tokyo would i attract any attention.As i would like to know if the japanese would be offended

You will be welcome in all the places where people your age gather. You might attract attention from young Japanese girls, but I don't think this would be a problem, would it ? <BR> <BR>Just remember that the official drinking age is 20 in Japan, although controls are few and far between and foreigners are known to drink legally earlier than that. Just don't get caught drunk in the street, and never get caught without your passport, drunk or not !

No that wouldn't be any bother but i am travelling on my own and it would seem wierd any way why would japanese girls pay special attention to me ? would they think i'm american or something? <BR>I am also trying to learn the language*hard *:-( <BR>so this will help me as ive heard that there aernt many japanese that speak English.

So far, at least 5 of my Swiss students who went to Japan on their own ended with Japanese girlfriends, and 2 got married there, I just wanted to warn you :-) Japanese view Switzerland as the antichamber to paradise, with England not far behind. You'll see the reaction everytime you'll correct them about your nationality ("America-jin desu-ka ?" "ah, soo! Igirisu-jin desu, ii desu !") <BR> <BR>Don't worry about looking weird, many gaijin (foreigners) travel on their own in Japan. It's in fact a great way of making friends, especially if you try to learn the language. You are right, not many Japanese are fluent in English, but you'll meet many who will want to practice with you. <BR> <BR>Keep at your Japanese language study, you'll be rewarded big time ! <BR> <BR>
