toddler-friendly hotels
 

Hey, I've been browsing through the posts, especially bella_bluebell's from her wedding trip. We're going to thailand and Malaysia for a month next jan as a honeymoon with our daughter who'll be 2 1/2. I'm looking for inspiration and advice on reasonable priced, toddler friendly hotels in bangkok and KL, also any general advice well received, particularly on Malaysia where we have less knowledge. Thanks.

you will find almost all hotels in thailand to be child friendly...of course the more stoic ones like the oriental are more "formal" and by nature less kid friendly...

i personally find the marriott resort and spa a perfect family hotel...small pool for kids too..

We stayed at the Shangri-La BKk with our 6 and 3 year old grandkids. I now cringe to think of the mess we made at the Italian restaurant there. We did have them take the very lovely wineglasses off the table immediately. They were most gracious, but we did eat very early before the restaurant was crowded.
We have stayed at many 5 star hotels (and less starred hotels) with the kids (both younger and older). They are very well-behaved but they did eat mainly pasta when they were younger. Most hotels today are very nice to little ones. If they don't want them, they will tell you when you make reservations and ask for a crib or kid's bed. I did bring our own blankets for the little ones. They like it and you know when it was last washed.

If you are considering Phuket you may try the JW Marriott which is for sure for families, we have been there twice, they have a resident baby elephant who comes out every day at 4 to meet and greet, the kiddies pool is lovely and shallow and the kids club, would give you and you hubby a little time together. The food options are very good for the little one too, a cafe that has everything and a little "supermarket". The drawback is that it is a far from any town, but for 4-5 days of devine relaxation, it is very nice.

I would expect all of the hotels in KL to be child-friendly as well. We stayed at the Ritz which was lovely, and we saw a number of families there.
