To Travelduo, regarding Ko Chang
 

What is the best way to get to Ko Chang from BKK? Is the Barali resort right on the beach? Is the beach water clear and calm? Is the beach long or not? Did you get a chance to see other resorts? We want a nice/deluxe resort with beautiful beach/room and surroundings. If you did see other resorts, which one would you recommend? Thank you for your time.

I personally found Ko Changs beaches and water very disapointing. The water was definately calm but I found it dirty and most of the coral in the snorkelling areas was dead or dying. This was 2 years ago so maybe they have cleaned up their act.

well as of a few weeks ago they seemed to have cleaned up their act very well! there are 2 daily flight out of bkk to trat, those tickets cost us abt $80us R/T, then you get on a mini bus, then onto a ferry, then onto another mini bus and on to the resort! if you want to feel like you are in the middle of nowhere this is the exact place you want to be! Barali was just about PERFECT! the only thing was that the shower never got really hot???? anyway i can sent you some of our pics if you give me your e mail. our bungalow was awesome and right on the beach! the water was calm and clear right by our bungalow and you could walk really far out and the water would only be hip high. my wife and i are both divers and have dove mostly in mexico and the carribean and bahamas, that being said, the underwater life was not like what we were used to. most of the coral we saw just like julie said was dead:( there was a ton of fish. i can tell you more about the snorkeling and diving if you are into that. most of the other resorts we saw you wouldnt want to stay in!!! you might want to check out the tropicana but i am not sure if they have beach front. google barali and you can see the bungalows, they are the BEST on the island!!!! the bathroom is awesome also! we LOVED the island and our resort, my wife loved the free breakfast on the beach each morning. i could go on and on all day about this place, so any other questions feel free to ask! I am very happy to hear that Ko Chang has taken some action to get and keep the beaches and water clean. That is excellent news.

I was very worried about getting on the mini bus!!!! but it is actually very simple. as soon as you get off the airplane in trat, there is a little desk right where you get your luggage, and they set it all up for you. just tell them which resort you are staying at and when your return flight is and they will be back to pick you up at your hotel. I think that is was B200 per person round trip???? I will send you out some pics and you can also check out www.baraliresort.com
