Hi Guenmai

I kinda like being called Lydie. I think I might adopt it in future. I posted under the shopping guides thread. Have a mighty day!

Guenmai Nov 23rd, 2004 06:50 PM

It was a typo. Sorry. Happy Travels!

No offence taken! 'appy days, as the Sth African's say!

Lyndie, I love your posts, your sense of humor, and your point of view! Your post on the India thread was great. Takes the wind out of the sails of all those hot-air holier-than-thou self-righteous types. Good on you as I think you say down under! Keep posting. Where are you off to next?

Lyndie Nov 24th, 2004 07:29 PM

Hi CFW-this is Lydie! Actually, we say "on ya' here in sunny Oz.

Tks for the nice words you posted. I am an eccentric old thing with a really bad sense of the absolute ridiculous. All fuelled by copius quantities of pink bubbly! Sometimes one just has to say what's on one's mind, don't you reckon?

Off to Thailand & India Dec 1 for 5 weeks. Getting furiously excited and cannot sleep so must indicate we will have an astonishing time, I hope. My partner just shakes his head, packs his bags and tags along. He says "he wouldn't be dead for quids" so maybe he's enjoying the ride!

All the very best & tks again. Where's your next travel destination?

CFW Nov 25th, 2004 04:23 AM

We're off for our first trip to Thailand Jan 14 -- can't wait! Have been devouring all the tips & info on this site. In fact, had panned to go to MHS & Fern resort based on your raves, but in the end we just didn't have enough time for everything. Where are you going in Thailand this trip? Is this your first trip to India? "He wouldn't be dead for quids" -- translate please. Love those Aussie expressions and humor. "Ballroom dancing" (I think that was the title) is one of my all time favorite movies. Have a wonderful time & good on ya!

Hi CFW-"wouldn't be dead for quids" means (to me) that no matter how much money one was paid, one would not want to give up one's life as it is now, for anything. Rough translation-life is so good, I don't want to be anyone else or swap places with anyone!

Strictly Ballroom may be the movie you like! It is "really cool & very hip" now, considering "Dancing with the Stars" tv show is so popular here, in Oz. They pick a actress, entertainer, some kind of semi-famous personality and partner them with a dancer. The "star" has to learn & perfect several dance styles/routines in 12-14 weeks. Every week one couple is voted off by the public and 3 judges. Very funny show! We just started viewing it in its final weeks!

Yep, first trip to India, hopefully not the last one!

We travelled to Krabi in April this year on our way home from Greece & Turkey and loved Railay (near Krabi) so much, we wanted to return & also see other southern beach areas so we are also going to Phuket & Koh Samui before returning to Krabi for 4 nts. Have used some of the wealth of info here, especially James A's.

Re MHS and Fern resort-better to go there when you're not rushed. It is such a lovely part of Thailand. Have a wonderful holiday-you are going when the weather should be perfect at night and warm in the daytime! Enjoy yourselves!
