And we were there Dec 25-29, and while we saw lots of people, there really weren't a lot in any one spot in the temples. Only at Bayon and Ta Prohm did we ever find ourselves waiting for people to clear out of the way before we could take pictures. I credit our guide with know where the crowds were during the day, and avoiding them.

I think most of the big groups our week were Koreans, as a big Korea/Cambodia friendship center (or some similar name) had just opened before Christmas. Our second hotel (Prince D'Angkor)sounded like we were in Seoul!

Your kids will find Ta Prohm (of the Tomb Raider fame) awesome. I was blown away.

Definitely cut out some BKK and go to Angkor for 2-3 days. Worth it.

The only post I do not agree with is Scotter. Everone else is right on target . I was there in Oct. 2000 for 4 nights just after Cambodia began allowing tourists to visit. I virtually had all of the temples to myself with my guide and the adorable children and the unfortunate ones who found the mines buried by the Khmer Rouge. . The shear size of Angkor Wat is spectacular, and after seeing how the town of Siem Reap has become a bustling town, I am very happy for the local people, but so happy I saw it as it was. Make sure you go to the temples early and either have lunch late or early to avoid the crowds that are now there.
