Tiger Temple to lose all its tiger population soon
Looks like this is one tourist attraction to avoid over or after Song Khran.
.............."in new mission to be launched by park officials"......... I'd like to say I'm happy about this planned action, but I'm not convinced it has the animals' welfare at heart; I suspect the motives mat well be "political". so it remains to be seem=n if this is a step in the right direction. remember that at present, these tigers have no verified genetic records and are probably either hybrids or too inbred for any real conservation uses......they are in short nothing more than living exhibits to be looked at my us humans.... http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/tig...park-officials |
these tigers are well "tamed" isn't it? i wonder why they will be removed from the temple. most of these tigers grew up with monks. i wonder how they react in the wild.

No tigers will be released into the wild.

Hope this actually happens, and really hope it works out well for the tigers!
|
Well it isn't going to happen. the temple has been given permission to keep the tigers....but they still face investigations over the various other endangered species cofiscated by the DNP and the 3 missing tigers.....

Ditto.

They also are not allowed to charge visitors....they can only ask for donations.....how that will work in practice remains to be seen. firstly most visitors are on pre-paid tours.....I expect the tour operators will be asked to give donations?!?!?!
