Those useless warnings spoilt the fun

Well all those months of travel warnings came to sweet ziltch! I saw that London had no celebration at all, Trafalgar Square closed, people wandering the streets, they say just 15,000, not a solitary forework or anything.
In Bangkok meanwhile several 'million' partied the night away to fun, music and fireworks. Had calls from friends in Phuket who partied all night, street dancing, beach dancing, huge fireworks display. Wish we'd been there. In Sydney it was boring!
Useless travel warnings. Where do you live, in a cave? Did you stop to think that maybe people in Australia are still getting over the shock of the bombing in Bali and didn't feel much like celebrating.

Here's a suggestion based on the fact that you sound like a vacous person who is incapable of understanding the seriousness of the issues faced by the West - Move to some party spot like Patong. Drink your life away with very little knowledge of the world beyond. Don't read newspapers or watch news programs.

You'll be happier and you won't get in the way of the serious minded and intelligent people who have to deal with real world issues.

Pleas, give me a break.. I'm with torrey.. travel warning are just about useless and getting peranoid about traveling somewhere gets you no further then your front porch..

I've partied and had fun in
-oooh, dangerous, Medellin, Colombia,
-chilled with Palistinian in Jordan
-And went too that same cluh that got bombed in bali 7 months ago..
ooh BIG DEAL

you can travel and have fun ANYWhere.

ARE... I don't know if you've lived in a third world country. But life is treated differant.. If a bomb goes off you say oh well and go back too work.. this is the real world in many parts of the world, junk happens then you go support your famaly or have fun.. Oh ya, while your reading newspaper and fretting with your inteligent frainds. life goes on...

I know I've come off coarse.. I was tought from a young age.. "You die when it's your turn too die". So I tend NOT too be risk avers in traveling, that is untill my SPIDEY scenses start going off.

PEACE ALL...
I think the point is just how 'justified' were all these warnings? There was no warning of Bali, certainly no warnings of the Kenya tragedy. Whilst everyone was being told that they should be wary of travel to Asia the Kenya bombing happened. Where was the intelligence then we may ask?
There has not been one single incident in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore or other countries. There have been some incidents in some parts of Indonesia and the Philippines but these were nothing related to tourists or tourist places.
A lot of tourist related businesses have been ruined and thousands of people have lost their employment. New Year passed without any problems at all.
Torrey is obviously a troll as there was one of the biggest celebrations in Sydney that the world has seen - needless to say he could not have been there, but he probably was somewhere in some third World country where they don't have television.
