I got my fill of squat toilets when I lived in the Middle East. I always wondered how those with bad knees (like myself) cope on a daily basis...bad knees and squats = falling over.

Interesting indeed. It is also the thigh muscles that start quivering after awhile. Age does not enhance the position. I guess the stool is the answer.
