Hanuman, I'm going to have a look at your photos. Can't wait! But I also wanted to correct the record. The little girl in the photo is Or's, but not Brad's. If she were his, he would totally recognize and support her as his. She is someone else's (and yes, she is a cutie)!

Just looked at your photo link. Thank you so much for sharing the pictures. The Thais know how to get right to work for the good of their people/city/country! It was nice to see some tourists involved in the cleanup as well.

hanuman, great pics and narrative. well done, and kudos to all the volunteers. the thai spirit is alive and well.

btw, my grandfatherly friends have ask me to inquire about the situation at nana plaza. not much have been reported here, so they are concerned about their grand-daughters. any damage there? is it open for family reunions? most of these old guys don't know how to use the internet, so they ask me to inqiure on their behalf.

Carol,

I was only joking! Sorry about my bad sense of humour... Yes I was impress with my fellow countrymen as well as the tourists and expats(most of whom I think work for the hotels in the neighbourhood).

Ken,

No damages around soi Nana. I drove past it yesterday and it looks normal and there have been no reports by the local media of anything happening there. They should be fine - the "grand-daughters". Traffic seems back to normal.

You, my friend, are a rock star.

In the worst of times we often see the best of what lives in people. I'm glad you got to experience this sense of putting things back in order, this sense of what citizenship and community means, and thanks for sharing with the rest of us.

hanuman, your sense of humor is fine! I'm just toucy on the subject of grandchildren, I guess, since I don't have any yet. I didn't mean to make it sound as if I was jumping on you. Sorry for that one.

And thanks again for bringing us the story in this thread!! I'll be coming back in July, for sure. I want to see for myself how things are progressing in BKK.

Just looking at Nation and BKK Post. Looks like Centara Grand will reopen June 1st. BTS will be running 6am-midnight starting Tuesday (except Rajadamri station is closed..by Four Seasons?) with no re-opening scheduled just yet.

Also, wondering about Paragon and Discovery and Central Chidlom Dept Store. I am hoping they were unharmed during the violence. Gaysorn should open fairly soon, I would think. What about Amarin Plaza?

Whose idea is it to now try to impeach the PM?? The Thai people need time to think about what has just happened in their country. Red shirts need to keep quiet! (IMO)

I think I should be able to go to so many of my favorite places, except CW, when I come back! Yippeee!

Just about to turn the computer off Carol!

Yes according to the papers the Centara will reopen on the 1st June. The BTS was running yesterday so now, after reading your post, I'm not too sure if it was a trial run or not but I thought they have restarted. Rajadamri is the station close to the Four Seasons and if you look at my pictures you can see that there are some damages to the stairways - higher than that I don't know.

Paragon wasn't damage and I thought they are open - maybe not. I'll check and report back tomorrow. Gaysorn is a crime scene so it might take a while(matter of days) to reopen. Amari was broken into as well and they found hundreds of red shirts hiding in there a couple of days after the crackdown.

Don't worry about the impeachment attempt. The Puae Thai party(Thaksin's party) submitted petition today to impeach the PM plus 4 ministers. Common occurrence in Thailand and I really don't think anything will happen. They Puae Thai lost face after the failed red shirts uprising and will argue their points in parliament for a few days.

You're right Carol only CW is off limit to you!

Thanks for sharing. To see so many young people volunteering is indeed encouraging and heart-warming. My faith in humankind is restored. Thanks!!!! Hopefully there is a good ending coming out from this very bad story and we all become stronger and wiser.

He's only a month off? A minor detail. I'm still lost in the 1960's. BTW, if one is going to be lost in a past decade, that's a pretty good one to choose. Can't you just see Bob with shoulder length hair and peace sign T-shirt? Me neither.
