The Rohingya
 

There is a very special person I know who posted what you are about to read. She was a resident MD where I worked, became a cardiology fellow there and is now an attending cardiologist. Every year she goes abroad to care for the the unserved in war torn areas. Last yr. she went to Syria I think and now she is in Bangladesh. Please read her report.

Minara is a 28 y/o woman who is a mother of 4 children, 1 boy and 3 girls ranging in the age of 7.5 yrs to 6 months old. She is from the Rakhine state in Myanmar. She is married to F.A. a 31 yr old farmer. Shortly after the attack on the Rohingya people by the Myanmar military began in August, she was able to escape to Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh along with her husband and 3 children. She voiced that they left with very little of their belongings. They walked for about 4 days and then traveled by boat for a day. She said that they walked for 4 days continuously without rest or eating. They would drink water from the river. She did not have food to give to her children either and she was 3 months pregnant at the time. She said that her husband would get beaten by the Myanmar police often and this would happen at random. These beating of the Rohingya people have been going on for many years. She also voiced that many of the women in her Village have been repeatedly attacked and raped by the Maynmar police and military. She is happy that they are all safe in Cox's Bazar now. She and her husband stated that they would return to Maynmar on if their safety is ensured.

The situation with the Rohingya is truly tragic. The Military in Burma have a long history of abusing various minorities. It used to be the tribal peoples in the north, but since many peace agreements were signed with the northern tribal groups, the animosity of military has now been focussed on The Rohingya.

So it seems the military is a brutish force that seeks a target to unleash their cruelty and innocents of all ages suffer. So horrible, so inhuman. I just don't know. :(.
