The New Siam Kempinski Bangkok

Today I got a tour of the new Siam Kempinski Bangkok hotel, which is just behind Siam Paragon. It opens this Thursday (22 July). It's been delayed, but it looks like the wait was worth it. It's an absolutely stunning hotel, designed to shut out the noise of the area to create a tiny oasis in the city. It's not on the river, but in every other respect the Kempinski will give the Penn and Oriental a run for their money. The regular rooms are amazing, with padded silk walls, huge bathrooms and free Internet. Then there are the 40+ suites, like the rooftop Terrace Suite with its own garden jacuzzi, or the Cabana rooms, which have direct access to one of the three (yes THREE) salt-water pools.

Rates seem to be competitive with the other ultra-luxe hotels in town, There are special deals and packages, which include free room nights, if you book before the end of July. Some of the facilities are not yet complete, but they should all be in place by the end of August or so. Pictures and more details on my blog:

Thanks for posting this, Michael. I'm going to look into it for one of our two Bangkok stays this year.

Also, I notice they have serviced apartments as part of the complex, so here is another option for people looking for longer-stay accommodations.

Thank you, Michael. With only two trips to Bangkok of any real duration thus far, I still love staying on the river so much that I am loathe to think of moving inland, but this sounds like a lovely choice when we are ready to be more adventuresome. I enjoyed getting acquainted with the POSH website as well.

Crown property hotel, crown property land and run by a chain own by the crown property. Can't go wrong in their own home country!

Forgot to mention that the 22nd July IS A VERY AUSPICIOUS DAY!

pook, try out the restaurants for us and let us know the details, please... you do not have to wait for an auspicious day however...

Right now their prices for December (for an exec room) are higher than my usual Towers Suite. I will watch prices, though in case they decide to have a sale...

Pook, I'm sure that's why they chose the date, although HRH will not be presiding over Thursday's proceedings. They're still trying to get on her schedule for a September-ish grand opening ceremony.

Given the Kempinski's reputation, I wouldn't expect them to offer big discounts, but you never know.

Given the low hotel occupancy in Bangkok and the opening of the hotel, I was hoping there might be a big promotion. But I'll keep an eye out for any, as it would be fun to try out the Kempinski.
