Wow, you got one of those beautiful days, good for you!!!

After we saw this image of Fujisan you were lucky to see, Linda and I vowed to get a closer look.....we did at Kawaguchiko at the base of Fujisan a year later.

Aloha!

We have been exceptionally lucky in our views of Fuji-san. We awoke to a very clear view of the top of Fuji this morning from our suite at the Hyatt. Cheryl got an amazing series of photos over the three days we have been here. She'll have maybe a dozen photos of Fuji, some from the train, but most from Hakone.

Today we head home. It's been a great trip thanks to all the help from our many Fodors friends.

See her latest blog post and another photo of Fuji taken from our room yesterday morning: www.cherylmarland.com/farewell-japan

My Japan heart can now rest easy. After 2 days in Hiroshima and Miyajima, I finally saw a clear and enormous Fuji-san on the Shinkansen back to Tokyo. It was real and it was spectacular! Now planning to get up extra early tomorrow for a repeat visit to Sushidai at Tsukiji (it really is THAT GOOD!) before heading off to do part of the Hakone circuit again to get more natural views of Fuji-san from Owakudani. Then head home on Friday.

I am salivating at the thought of Sushidai @ Tsukiji! Yes, indeed, it is that good & worth the wait.

Don, as you would expect Sushidai was once again fantastic! I was in line at 4:55 am and was inside before 6:30 am. The fatty tuna literally melts in your mouth. The only downside is that 2 breakfasts at Sushidai have ruined me for sushi anywhere else. Nothing will ever be as good. Even the Tokyoites get up early to have sushi there!

Spent the rest of the day having quality time with Fuji-san in Hakone. The weather was clear as a bell and Fuji-san looked enormous. For those still in Tokyo, you must get a view from somewhere if even just a skyscraper. The weather is expected to be clear to mostly clear for a few more days.

Home to Minneapolis on Friday. Japan has been AMAZING and everything I hoped. And the people are the kindest on earth. I look forward to reading the adventures of others still here or soon to come. Be sure to post "live".
