From the Hyatt car service to KIX: sedan ¥25,000; luxury sedan with English speaking driver ¥38,000. To ITM sedan ¥15,000; luxury sedan ¥20,000; van ¥23,000. There is shared shuttle by MK Taxi too.

To KIX Haruka train is dead simple. To ITM there is bus from Kyoto station or a shared shuttle by MK Taxi.

The fare from the Hyatt in Kyoto to ITM would have been 7500 yen, had we not been comped due to our group's escapade the previous night at Trattoria Sette. I thought Karen was generous in her review on TA by the way in rating it just "poor" and not "terrible". Perhaps it was because we were compensated quite generously for our troubles...

Met Shelley and Bill last night briefly, as they were in our area. We will have a gtg in Kyoto. Cheryl went out to of night photography last night and captured some fascinating shots - rivers of people. I was exhausted and went to bed, got a good long sleep, so I feel like I'm in the right time zone. Normally I'm so little bothered by jet lag, I don't even think about it. But I think our problems finding things yesterday are at least partially attributable to jet lag.

It's cool and rainy today. I'm hoping it will clear off later.

Yipes! Another manifestation of jet lag. Thanks for the correction, Don.

Kathie, forecast is for rain n clouds in the morning and clearing in the late afternoon....sunny tomorrow .
You and Don should meet up. He is just down the street from u at the Park Hyatt. He is a Japan vet with lots of good advice.

Just put Bob n Karen out on the curb for their MK taxi shuttle to KIX. It's been such a pleasure traveling with them again this year after our fun time last year in China and Thailand. I know it was hard for them to travel to Japan but they put up with us without complaint and we hope they can put up with us next year for our planned travels to Bali. I know Linda can't wait to shop with Karens expertise through the islands where we will be the "rookies". I can't wait either.

We head out today for a couple of days of shopping and eating our way through Osaka. We will be at the Sheraton Miyako in Osaka on 7000 points per night which I thought was a great deal. We have had so much fun this trip with the Kimball's and Craig n Jeane. Finally being able to meet my personal hero and mentor KIMJAPAN and Rich who are so giving and such a sweet couple. We are truly blessed to have made many friendships at fodors over the years....can't wait for our next travel adventure.

Aloha!

Another shout here for KimJapan -- we haven't met in person, but she was a huge help to a friend who needed some help with a recent Kyoto trip.

The Park Hyatt is an amazing place, maybe the best city hotel I've stayed at. Not terribly useful as a base if you're looking to explore the city, but fantastic as an urban chill-out refuge. And the view from the New York bar is just breathtaking.

It was a pleasure to meet you all and I'm looking forward to the next this weekend! Thanks so much for the kind words - but really, it is truly a pleasure.

Don go downstairs to the 48th? Floor bar. Views are just as good but prices are much less.
Yes the PH ranks amongst our favorite refuges in Tokyo.

Aloha!

Kim has been enormously helpful to us. We are really looking forward to meeting her soon - Saturday, in fact.

Don, your comments on the Park Hyatt make me wish we would have used our free nights there rather than Kyoto.

We have a view of the park from our room here at the Hyatt Regency, and I'm amazed at how much leaf color change has occurred since we arrived. It looks like we will have great timing for the koyo.

Don, I don't know what your schedule is like, but maybe we could get together. We have plans for today and hope to get to the Meiji shrine tomorrow (if we can figure out how to get there!), but could probably meet for lunch or a drink.

Ht, I've actually got diamond status for this trip, so my ny bar drinks are free. I'm just back from the pool/spa, which did not disappoint for either facilities or scenery.

Kathie, I'm moving to the grand Hyatt tomorrow. If you were planning to be in Roppongi, a drink would be great, late afternoon Friday or Sat.

The mk taxi from Kyoto to kix was $72 for two in a nice lux van with 2 others... Time: 1 hr 50 min. They were 15 min late picking us up--- how un-japan..

I have written 2 reviews of kimjapan and the editors have removed them... It ticks me off and they have ignored my e mail.... Maybe it's time for me to stop posting...

Bob/Karen, I saw your post about Kim and wasn't surprised it disappeared as it looked more like an ad than a review. Besides, I think many of us have commented on Kim, and we can all answer questions form people who are looking for a travel agent in Japan.

Cheryl posted some of her night photos here: http://cmarlandphotoart.com/179509/2...tokyo-at-night

It's too bad I didn't get the Virtuoso rate at the PH -- I could've used the $100 credit for food and beverage to buy 2 drinks at the NY Bar next week.
