The best hotel in Koh Samui

Just a quick one...
No-one seems to ever mention it but the Muang Kulay Pan hotel in Koh Samui is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in.
Situated on North Chaweng beach it has been designed (I am informed)with traditional Thai influence.
Drinking mango margaritas on the sloped edge of a black tiled pool, exquisiye gardens with 'topiaried' rabbits on the lawn, the Budsaba outdoor restaurant, sun beds Corbusier style on the beach...I could go on and on.
Anyone else stayed there?

I havent, but I will surely check it out.

I have stayed at Poppies on Chaweng, and Tongsai Bay, both of which were beautiful.

Hello Sofia,
Given the date of the previous posts, J and Max might not come back.
Anyway, I've done a google search for this hotel, because I am interesting myself in Koh Samui.
Have a look at this page (there are others, if you search in the net):
www.samui-hotels.com/kulaypan/index.htm

I have stayed there and agree that it is charming, ethereal, and special. But Poppies is nice too!!!!

We spent 5 days at Le Royal Meridien Baan Taling Naam on the west coast, which is isolated from the tourist strip on the east. It was sublime and quiet. Perfect since we were there about a week after 9/11. We rented a car one day and drove around the island. I was glad to get back to the peace, solitude and elegance of the Meridien. Not for those interested in the party harty scene.

We had dinner at the Muang Kulay Pan in Chaweng. I agree the design concept of the hotel was impressive. The black tile pool looked wonderful. It totally has a very serene vibe going on. I have to say I was not too crazy about the beach. It seemed sort of rocky in places and not as nice as the beach in Mae Nam. I believe they have a website for anyone who is interested in checking it out.
