Thailand: Watpo Massage School/Bangkok Stay

Friends and I are going doing a 6 day Thai Massage course at the Watpo Massage school.

I have found one boutique hotel that is very close to the school, but am wondering how hard it would be to get to the school from a further neighborhood with traffic etc in the mornings.

This would be my first time in Bangkok. The course ends at 4pm each day and looking for an interesting recommendations to do in the evening. Everyone going enjoys a good bar scene, shows, and good food.

Any recommendations? Especially for evening activities that are a true Bangkok experience..

If you would prefer nor to stay in the immediate vicinity of Wat Po, I'd suggest choosing a hotel along the river, that way you can take the water taxi (public river boat) to Wat Po. I would not want to rely on getting there via surface streets.

There is wonderful food everywhere in Bangkok. And there are interesting bars everywhere. I find one of the things I enjoy in Bangkok is finding a "new" (to me) place to eat or drink just by walking around.

Shows? The Calypso Cabaret, located at Asiatique, a shopping/eating venue along the river, might be the most famous ladyboy show, but there are others as well.

Enjoy Bangkok!

Wat Po pier wa closed to upriver traffic in November and looked as though it would remain so for some time. This would make inconvenient and time consuming to rely on the ferries as you would have to get off/on at Wat Arun and ten got a cross river ferry. This added on 30-40 mins to the journey for me.

I would definitely want to stay around Wat Po. Depends on your budget, but maybe Aurum. Khao San Road area has lots of accomodation and entertainment options and is maybe a 20 min walk. We stayed at the Ibis Styles in the next Street which was very good and excellent value.

If you are into music, then Adhere Blues Bar in nearby and has some great live blues and jazz.

What is your budget?

Taxis and tuck tuks wish you around cheaply

Don't go too cheap on the hotel.

I am in Thailand, but I tend to go top end and prefer river locations. Wat pho is near the river so you might consider that.
