thailand vacation
My husband & I are in the early stages of considering a trip to Thailand. We have timeshare with Marriott so one week we know we will stay at Phuket. The first week I was looking at a Marriott hotel in Hua Hin. If anyone can help us plan a vacation around these two desinations it would be a tremendous help. Also is late October a good time of year?

Do you like rain? Late October is still monson season in Phukat. Late November should be ok, but even early November is quite rainy. Take a look at www.weatherbase.com
Also, I notice that you are choosing two beach locations. The beaches in Thailand are nice, but they will give you litle sense of the culture. You should certainly plan some time in Bangkok, and consider some time in the north as well. |
i have stayed at both hotels....the HH marriott is old....that is the rooms are old, older style....the rest of the facilities are all very nice...it is a compact resort which in many ways is quite nice and it is just outside town and there is a brand new mall across the street...there was nothing wrong with the rooms, they were just sort of old feeling, not run down, just old...we would return there if the price was right...
the hyatt on the other hand is fantastic....we just stayed there in november... the phuket marriott and the hua hyatt are very similar in many ways....both are fantastic....unlike the marriotts (phuket and HH) the restaurants at the HH hyatt are rather reasonable, fyi.... in bkk you might try the marriott resort and spa....overall it is our favorite hotel in thailand....the bkk JW is fine also but not as special as the R&S.... |
Do not go to both beaches. If you're going to Phuket for a week, spend the other week in Bangkok and maybe Chiang Mai. Thailand's beaches are pleasant, but they're touristy. Thailand is a wonderful place with wonderful people. The non-beach destinations provide the best experience of this.
Also, late November is MUCH better for Phuket than October. We've been to Phuket three times in late November and never seen rain. |
I agree with others, spend at least 1 week in Bangkok or Chiang Mai or both. You could do 3 nights Bkok and 4 nights Chiang Mai. I've been to Phuket, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Samui - I would only do one beach stay.
