thailand trip 17 days, 16 nights
 

i am planning for a trip to thailand in june this year. i am thinking of 4 nights bangkok, 4 nights chiang mai, 4 nights phuket, n 4 nights krabi. what do u recommend tat i do to fill up these days?

I'd suggest you atart by buying yourself a good guidebook. Fodors has one, Lonely Planet has one. You can also read some of teh hundreds of Thailand trip reports here on Fodors. Start by selecting Thailand from the drop-down menu and you'll see all of the posts that are about Thailand.

What to do depends on your interests. Do some research first, then come back with specific questions.

many of us prefer river front hotels in bangkok but there are many other options also....most hotels are not anywhere near to the sights, btw... so transportation is always an issue, but an easy one...

there is a list of perhaps 10 main sights in bkk which you may want to visit most from.... there are a couple of outside bkk locations too...

why do you plan to visit both phuket and krabi?? they are quite similar??

I would strongly suggest that you consider the weather in choosing your beach locations. You have outlined Phuket and Krabi which are both on the western side of Thailand. In June, the weather is likely to be better on the eastern side, e.g., Ko Samui or Hua Hin. Take a look at weatherbase.com for estimated rain and temperature.

I agree that hotel choice can be a critical issue. Ifyou suggest a per night budget, we will be glad to assist.

17 days is a very good amount of time in Thailand. You will be able to visit several locations and get a taste of the places.

i have had very good luck with weather on that side of the peninsula in june...

I note that all of Gate 1 Travel's posts are basically the same. For a travel agent, his/her knowledge of Thailand seems very limited.

How many of you are coming and what is your budget?

I can help sort out many things in Phuket since I am based here. So much to do, so I don't think 4 days is enough.

Also how are you getting from one area to another? Are you going to Fly, take the bus, drive or go by Train?

I think you may want to split your days a bit different to get the most out of your trip.
