Planning Thailand trip in Nov! Given current political unrest is it wise? Many airlines have responded by cutting seats to Bangkok. Is my concern warranted?

I don't think so

How would anyone know what is likely to happen in November? My crystal ball is on strike.

United cut their NRT-BKK flight but it had nothing to do with politics.

I wouldn't hesitate to plan a trip to Bangkok for November.

No hesitation at all! Heading back to Bangkok three times between now and end of 2014!

When Shutdown BKK occurred in January/Feb several airlines, Singapore Airlines & Cathay Pacific to name 2, did in fact cut back flights to BKK due to less demand. We were in BKK during the shutdown and had no issues. But as others have said, no way to predict for any country what will be in November.

Yes, airlines have in the past temporarily cut flights during a shutdown, but re-instated them as soon as the shutdown was over. Has it been different this year?

I have no clue what is normally done nor what the current status is. I followed events in BKK closely this winter, but not since then. My post was to clarify that this had happened since the OP mentioned it.

The current situation has resulted in a drop in tourist numbers. if you take the risk - up to you to make an assessment - you may find a few bargains.

the only way to assess the situation is to keep up to date with the media. Sources such as ABC Australia ca be useful, as can Reuters etc.....the Thai media is pretty unreliable as it is largely controlled by various vested political interests.

at present the opposition seem intent on a "legal" coup...... without putting the military o the streets.

large rallies by both sides in Bkk around the Song Khran period may decide how this will go. There is a lot of guff and ouster at present....so the next time to review may well be after Song Khran.

The "unrest" isn't going away anytime soon. Whether there will be any threats, or serious inconvenience, to travelers, will depend on the situation at any given time.

I have friends planning visits during the same period. At this time, I see no reason for them to change their plans.
