Thailand Travel Agent Help??
 

We want to go to Thailand the end of March/early April. We live in Ohio in USA. Can anyone recommend a good travel agent that suggests good hotels and can help with trip excursions & transportation plans. I am decently confident to plan this myself, but extra help is welcomed. We used a travel agent for Italy and it was the best experiecce.We are in our mid 30's and travel frequently so we aren't intimated or stressed to travel. We use travel forums and seek tons of advise from travel sites/blogs. No group tours.

do it totally yourself, thailand is easy to plan... buy a fodors or frommers travel guide to thailand and 75% of your questions will be answered.. we will supply the rest and more...

we need to know your daily hotel budget, your likes and dislikes, your food interests, your shopping interests, your beach interest, etc..

let's go....

btw, april is by far the hottest month of the year.. nothing like ohio ever..

Agree that you don't need a travel agent and the cost will normally be lower without the use of one.

Hi, If you really want to use an agent (I do for internal airfares) I use Pacific Horizon 27 Metha Wattana Bldg., Sukhumvit Soi 19 , Sukhumvit Road Wattana , Bangkok 10110. I deal with a lady called Kasina. I found the prices cheaper thru her but haven't booked hotels etc. I agree that it is easy via agoda or expedia and much cheaper in most cases. You can't go past Tour with Tong for trips etc. Both have web sites. Good luck.

I am back!!! I feel pretty confident to plan our trip with your help! We trying to book this trip for March…..yes we know it will be hot? like 80's or 90's or 100's???

Anyhow, we need advise on hotels/resorts for the beach. we'll prob spend the first two or last two days of our trip in BKK, then head to beach areas. I do like culture, but don't' think we can squeeze in northern Thailand, beaches and BKK in 10-12 days. Thoughts??

So I need trip routes and hotels. Fly into BKK, stay 2 days, then head to beach area resort, maybe 2 resorts tops. Not sure where to squeeze in elephants/temples????

Resort price $150-300, but would luv to keep it under $200 if nice …4-5 stars…..is that possible??? heard resorts are cheaper there??? AS reference, we just got back from Iberestar Grand Dominican Republic, the #1 resort on the island….

I think you are wise to choose just two places for your limited time in Thailand. I'd add more time to Bangkok as that is where you will see temples - remarkable temples. Skip elephants this trip, as none of the places you can interact with elephants near beach resorts treat their elephants well. Save it for next trip when you can go to a reputable elephant camp in northern Thailand.

In Bangkok, I advise staying along the river - the Pen and the Oriental are the top places, but also look at the Shangri-La, The Sheraton Royal Orchid. A bit farther aways is the Anantara, the Chatrium is well-priced.

You want a beach resort on the Andaman Sea: Phuket, Koh Lak, Krabi Koh Lanta, etc. Take a look at this booking site www.sawasdee.com for ideas. I booked through them a number of times, as they are a local booking company and have good prices.

for Bangkok, I prefer the anantara riverside which is well within your pricing... chatrium riverside is a serviced apartment which is very nice too... for lux a few days at the peninsula is fab...

in the city I like the plaza anthanee, Marriott mayfair and sukhumvit park (both serviced apartments), Marriott courtyard, four seasons, hyatt..

for beach locations I love the Marriott khao lak, the Sheraton krabi, the Phuket renaissance (a bit remote) and its neighbors the anantara and jw Marriott.

air asia is an easy cheap way to get around Thailand as is nok air. very strict on baggage allowances however...

when I plan I like a couple of days in bkk, then beach time and then more bkk time at the end...
