Thailand or Malaysia in Mid April

Hello,

We are planning to go to either thailand or Malaysia in mid april for about a week.

We did some research but cant get a clear answer as to when the monsoon season starts and how long it lasts. I would appreciate if anyone can provide more information

Thanks

Use any of the weather websites to check each location you would like to visit. I use www.weatherbase.com Thailand and Malaysia are impacted by several different monsoon systems, so there is no one answer for all of either country. And the Maldives are in a completely different area weather-wise.

Note that April is the absolute hottest month in Thailand and in part of Malaysia.

OH NO! Really? I'm going to be in Asia from mid march to mid april -- should I skip Bali (I don't think I could bear that)? KL? in favor of more time in northern India? Or...?

This will be my only trip to Asia probably

thanks!

i think there's nothing wrong with the whether in april..but u know, our earth climate now are bit different. but i think there's no need to be worrying about monsoon season in malaysia. which part in malaysia would u plan to go? is it the big country or something like an island?

India, the weather in Bali should be fine in April. See here:
http://www.weatherbase.com/weather/w...Bali-Indonesia

You have to check each location you want to visit as you are talking about a vast area, subject to many different weather systems.

collage, if you are looking for a beach vacation, Langkawi has about 9 inches of rain in April, Phuket has a bit less, about 6 inches.

We have visited Langkawi several times in April. The first time 15 years ago for our wedding and we return several times since to celebrate our anniversary. Each time we have had great weather. The weather charts are fine if used as a guide but they don't tell the whole story. If it does rain, is unlikely to rain for the whole day. More likely to be in short sharp downfalls. April is on the cusp of the monsoon the arrival of which seems to vary more and more as the years go by so it is really difficult to judge its arrival with any real certainty.

As an example , we arrived in Sri Lanka in Feb last year expecting the dry season only to find ourselves knee deep in the worst floods for years (even then we had great weather for most of the time!).

Phuket's weather will be much the same as Langkawi and, arguably, Langkawi's beaches are nicer and the hotels cheaper.
