Wow! Thanks to everyone, especially James for such great info! Like I said I did buy a book on Thailand and I have searched Thailand on this forum but I wanted some good first hand experience from others for a place to start.

I have heard so much about Phuket but didn't know if I wanted to face the crowds.

I am looking forward to researching this trip. I don't feel whole unless I am planning my next get-a-way!

I think we will probably go to Thailand around March.

Cheers!

I went to Greece and just got home yesterday. I haven't been to Thailan but have heard/read about it. Greece was amazing. There are museums and archaeological ruins yet there are over 1600 islands belonging to the country. You want to relax? I'd suggest going "island hopping." this would include seeing different places at a relaxed pace and settling on the beach =)

it is very much depends upon the season the best time for greece is summer and the best time for thailand is winter if you want a beach holiday for sightseeing the best time for greece is autumn
if you were in most of europe try far east it is different experience or why dont you try turkey it is where east meets west you can have an exiting sightseeing ,a very different cousine and in the south a wonderful beach ,sea, sand and local culture holiday which greece lost years ago
best lucl
