Thailand in October
 

hi, we're considering thailand for our honeymoon in october, but we only have about a week, leaving sunday returning sat from los angeles. we are thinking about bangkok and koh samui. any suggestions on hotels/flight would be very appreciated. thanks.

I would recommend unless you can somehow arrange more time that you rethink...flight to Thailand leaving on sunday will arrive on Monday...day of arrival you don't do much. Then you leave on Saturday...that gives you 4 days in Thailand. I wouldn't travel so far for such a short stay...I'd go closer to home so that travel time didn't eat up my honeymoon.

I'm agree with KimJapan that this trip might need a long time journey, but Thailand really suit for your honeymoon trip. If you prefer Koh Samui, I recommend you to book a connecting flight to Koh Samui. There's only one airline operate flight from Bangkok to Koh Samui, which is Bangkok Airway. You have to arrange the time at least 1 hour to aviod any problem cause by flight delaying. Then enjoy your wonderful honeymoon trip 4 days at Koh Samui.

Note that October is not a great time for any of the Thai beaches. All of the major areas (Phuket, Koh Samui and Hua Hin) have more than 10 inches of rain in October.

i would stay only in bkk and pick a hotel like the sheraton or marriott that has a fabulous pool area that gives you a beach feel.....that way you can think you have had a tropical beach vacation and also a fabulous city location....can you stretch the days out at all?

Bob's right, you could do it if you chose one location. I've been to Asia a number of times for a week, though I always left Seattle on Friday or Saturday and flew home on Sunday, so I had a couple more days than you have. But do only chose one location (Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore, or Tokyo) for the whole time. And chose an airline that will take you there non-stop. It's still a short trip, but do-able. If you opt for two locations, you'll spend your whole honeymoon on the plane or in airports.

For a honeymoon, the Pen or the Oriental are the two best hotels in Bangkok.

If you only have that short time I would strongly urge you to go someplace closer to home -- like Hawaii. If you really want to go to thailand than just go to bangkok and stay at either the Oriental or the Peninsula depending on the type of hotel you like -- they are both deluxe but are very different.

thanks to everyone for their responses! we don't much time to plan, and since the time span is not flexible, i think we'll have to hold off on thailand until another time to fully appreciate. hawaii seems like the best bet considering the weather/time frame/distance from la, but if anyone else has any interesting ideas for a week somewhere with a bit of relaxation/culture/good food, much appreciated - thank you.

Hawaii is always great, but you might want to consider Costa Rica. We haven't been yet, but have looked into it quite a bit and it may meet your need of some more culture. You can definitely have some relaxation time as well, and from what I hear great food!

You can fly direct LAX to San Jose, Costa Rica.

Are the beaches |OK in Pattaya in October. YOu all mention 10" of rain in October.We will be there October 20-27th Thanks Chris

The beaches should be fine - just wet... ;-)

Historically, the rainfall there is in the same range as the other places mentioned.
